Passive voice

Bildung der Zeiten im Passiv

Simple
Form von to be + 3. Verbform
Aktiv: Somebody stole the money.
Passiv: The money was stolen (by somebody).

Progressive
Form von to be + being + 3. Verbform
Aktiv: Somebody was watching the man.
Passiv: The man was being watched (by somebody).

Alle Zeiten gibt es theoretisch auch im Passiv. Die „Progressive-Formen“ sind jedoch nur in Present und Past tense gebräuchlich. Die Zeit wird durch die Form von to be zum Ausdruck gebracht:

Zeit
Simple present
Present progressive
Simple past
Past progressive
Present perfect
Past perfect
Will-future
Future perfect
Conditional present
Conditional perfect

Form von to be
am/are/is
am/are/is + being
was/were
was/were + being
have/has been
had been
will be
will have been
would be
would have been

Beispiel
I am called.
I am being called.
I was called.
I was being called.
I have been called.
I had been called.
I will be called.
I will have been called.
I would be called.
I would have been called.

Nach modalen Hilfsverben wie can, must, may steht der Infinitiv be: I can be called. I may be called.

Die Umwandlung von Aktiv in Passiv

Wenn man einen Aktivsatz in einen Passivsatz umwandeln will, so vertauscht man Subjekt und Objekt.

Reported speech

Die Bildung: Zeitenveränderung (Backshifts)
